This is the Sydney travel book for families, whether you are visiting from out of town or live locally and need some new ideas of what to do this weekend. Sydney for Kids edition 5 features 400 destinations and activities around Sydney that are great fun for children and families.
My kids and I continue to have tons of fun discovering all Sydney has to offer families. It is like being on holiday while staying at home! The updated and expanded fifth edition is now available.
Sydney for Kids describes places particularly suitable for children aged up to 12 years, but of course many of the venues appeal to teenagers as well.
There are 13 chapters, and the themes they explore are:
Three Symbols of Sydney - around Sydney Cove, Darling Harbour and Manly.
Historic Places - fun historic sites for kids.
Outdoor Sydney - bush, parks and gardens.
Cycling Sydney - fun venues suitable for family riding.
Swimming Spots - sheltered and surf beaches and pools that delight.
Across the Water - cruises and ferry trips in this watery city.
Animals - aquariums, farms and zoos.
Galleries, Libraries, Museums and Scientific Places - catering especially for kids
Trains, Trams and Buses  - inspired by my son.
Other Outings and Entertainment - theme parks, eating places, kids' concerts and more.
Shopping - including specialist children's toy and book shops.
Annual Events - festivals and celebrations throughout the year.
Freebies and Cheapies - many events are free or $30 or less for the whole family.
Each chapter has been arranged according to location, so you can quickly see what is near you, and there is information about what is most accessible to visitors staying in the City.
Within each entry you'll also find:
Contact details, opening times, cost and age suitability.
What's there? - a symbol summary and description of things to do.
Tucker - food and drinks available
Toilets - what facilities there are, including baby change tables.
Getting there - information about driving there and public transport.
